Solomon's Prayer

2 Chronicles 1:1-12 (KJV)

And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2 Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.
But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
The first nine chapters of the book of 2nd Chronicles narrate the peaceable reign of Solomon:
Made possible by his deliberate actions in recognising the place of God in his domain.
  • He did not misuse the divine privilege given to him.
  • He carefully merged his earthly inheritance with his divine inheritance.
  • He honoured God with SACRIFICE (2nd Chronicles 1: 1-6).
  • He honoured God with PRAYER (2nd Chronicles 1: 7-12).
  • He honoured the people of Israel with trade (1st Chronicles 1: 13-17).

1. God honoured Solomon in return and also made it possible for the people to honour him. The presence of God strengthened his HEART, HANDS and made a SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE in his labour on the throne (2nd Chronicles 1: 1-3).

PRAYER:
  • Lord, please visit the foundation of my walk with You afresh and rid it of any pollution. Remove anything that is not of You that has secretly or publicly crept into my life, so that I will not misuse the divine privilege upon my life. Set me free from all forms of entanglements by way of religious rites, affluence, habits, association, self-righteousness, pride, lust, etc.
  • I present my life as a living sacrifice to You. Consume me and let Your presence make an evident difference in every area of my life. Establish my heart in Your word and strengthen my hands in my labour of love for Your Kingdom.
  • Grant me the grace to engage all within and outside my cycle of influence in the things that pertains to THE CROSS.

2. Solomon made a public declaration by his manner of worship from the start of his rulership. He ensured SACRIFICE (himself) was not far from the ALTAR (God). He laid hold on the eternal truth and the established understanding that IT IS ONLY THE ALTAR THAT CAN SANCTIFY THE SACRIFICE (2nd Chronicles 1: 4-5).

PRAYER:
  • Lord, have mercy on me and forgive me where I have not publicly declared my stand in You, where I have missed it, or mixed it up due to carelessness, or pressure from my leaders in all capacities.
  • Lord, put out all the strange fires on my sacrifice unto You. Let Your Holy Fire burn constantly in my life.
  • Lord, please bind all aspects of my sacrifices unto You to Your ALTAR, sanctify and purify them with Your HOLY FIRE; so they can be acceptable and measure up to the standard of heaven.

3. Solomon's CHOICES and DESIRES reflected in his prayers. His prayer reflected his heart and what he gave preference to in his life. It was the preference of heaven for his labour that drove his heart desires for the Kingdom labour (2nd Chronicles 1:6-10).

PRAYER:
  • Lord, please affect my choices and desires in significant ways for Your pleasure, affect all the areas that are still untouched by the life of Jesus; so that I may reflect Your nature and character in all my endeavours.
  • Lord, let me not carelessly remove You from the throne of my life. Be the centre, be my all, be my vision in all things, be my confidence and be my dominating focus.
  • Help me to co-operate with You to work out what You have already worked out in me. Let me be content in whatever position I find myself in You (full, empty, abased, abound, weak, strong, etc).

4. Solomon acknowledged God as the SOLE-GIVER of knowledge and wisdom. He admitted that God put him in that position, and would give him the grace for the duties attached to it according to the Spiritual Order of Heaven (2nd Chronicles 1:8).

PRAYER:
  • Lord, open my eyes and my heart to The WISDOM (Jesus) that comes from above. Increase my faith in Your Wisdom, and grant me the grace to live my entire life through Your Divine Wisdom and Knowledge.
  • Lord, quicken my heart to This Wisdom and abundant grace, so I can faithfully work and walk in the Spirit of my FATHER through the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Lord, help me not to talk, live or throw myself out of the Spiritual Order of Heaven. Keep me near The Cross where my life will constantly and consistently measure up with the rules of Your Kingdom.

5. Solomon did all from the very beginning to ACTIVATE THE PROMISES OF GOD in his life and labour. He made the promises of God as the platform for approaching God's throne and for discharging his duties as the recipient of those promises. (The Promise made to David, his father - 2nd Samuel 7: 13-16).

PRAYER:
  • Lord, please let not my life forfeit Your mercy.
  • Grant me the wisdom and grace to fulfil my part in standing on Your promises for my life.
  • Lord, please grant me glorious answers to my requests according to Your will.
  • Crush my confidence in anything that does not have a place in heaven.
  • Let me always seek YOU first in every area of my life.

Scripture Lyrics: Solomons Prayer
(2 Chronicles 1:7-12. When I Survey)

1. The Lord came down, to Solomon
Israel’s king, and David’s son,
By night He said, come ask me now,
What shall I give, To thee my son?

2. The king looked up, and said to God
Mercy hast Thou, my father shown
And me Thou made, his stead to reign
O Lord God now, hear me I pray

3. Give unto me, wisdom, knowledge
That I may go, and come before
This mighty flock, for who can judge
This Thy people, that is so great?

4. Thou hast not asked, riches or wealth
Thine enemies, lives did not ask
Wisdom, knowledge, is granted thee
With much more too, Replied the Lord

5. Grant Lord my heart, Like Solomon’s
To seek Thee first, Thy kingdom too
Abide in Thee, and Thou in me
One with my God, is all I seek.

The New Jerusalem

The New Jerusalem
1. God's angel carried me away,
A great and high mountain me took
He showed to me that great city
From heaven descending to earth.

2. Jerusalem great and holy
God's city with glory too
Her light was like unto a stone
Like jasper stone and crystal clear.

3. It had a wall so great and high
Twelve gates twelve angels and twelve names.
The names of twelve tribes of Israel
The east, the north, the south and west.

4. Twelve foundations had all the walls
Inscribed on them the names of twelve
Apostles of the Lord Jesus
The Lamb of God who saved our souls.

5. Of jasper was the city wall
Of purest gold the city built
So precious like unto clear glass
And decked with many a precious stone

6. The first foundation jasper was
The second of saphire stone
The third a chalcedony stone
The fourth an emerald as well.

7. The fifth of precious sardonyx
The sixth of precious sardius too
The seventh stone was chrysolite
The eighth of precious beryl stone

8. The ninth was precious topaz stone
The tenth of chrysoprasus stone.
Th' eleventh precious jacinth stone,
The twelfth of precious amethyst.

9. Twelve gates, twelve pearls, each gate a pearl
The city's street was purest gold.
Such gold just like transparent glass,
God's glory lights the city too.

10. Make this my home my Lord I pray,
My name engraved inside Thy book.
With saints in white and crown of life,
In glorious joy I'll sing Thy praise.

The Ten Virgins

The Ten Virgins
(Matthew 25:1-13. Tune: "There Is A Fountain)

1. The kingdom of heaven is like,
Ten virgins who went out,
To welcome the mystery bridegroom,
And partake of his feast.
And partake of his feast, and partake of his feast.
To welcome the mystery bridegroom, and partake of his feast

2. Five of them wise, and five were fools.
Took no oil with their lamps
The wise took extra oil inside,
Their vessels with their lamps.
their vessels with their lamps. their vessels with their lamps.
The wise took extra oil inside, their vessels with their lamps.

3. The mystery bridegroom tarried long,
They slumbered and all slept.
And at midnight there came a cry,
The mystery bridegroom comes!
The mystery bridegroom comes! The mystery bridegroom comes!
And at midnight there came a cry, The mystery bridegroom comes!

4. The weary virgins all arose,
To trim their lamps for light.
The foolish said unto the wise,
We pray thee lend us oil.
We pray thee lend us oil. We pray thee lend us oil.
The foolish said unto the wise, We pray thee lend us oil.

 5. Not so, the wise answered their friends.
Lest there be not enough
For us and you, but go to them,
That sell, and buy some too.
That sell, and buy some too. that sell, and buy some too.
For us and you, but go to them, that sell, and buy some too.

6. And while the foolish went to buy,
The mystery bridegroom came.
And they that were ready went in,
With him the door was shut!
With him the door was shut! with him the door was shut!
And they that were ready went in, with him the door was shut!

7. The foolish virgins came later,
Saying Lord, open to us!
The mystery bridegroom answered said
Begone, I know you not!
Begone, I know you not! Begone, I know you not!
The mystery bridegroom answered said, Begone, I know you not!

8. How sad the foolish virgins were
Beloved let us learn!
I pray thee LORD in my vessel
Give oil until You come!
Give oil until You come! Give oil until You come!
I pray thee LORD in my vessel, Give oil until You come!

New Heaven And New Earth

1. A new heaven and earth I saw,
The first no more, hath passed away.
New Jerusalem coming down
From heaven prepared as a bride.

2. From heaven a great voice I heard,
Behold God's tent is here with men.
He'll dwell with them and be their God,
And they His people all shall be.

3. And God shall wipe all tears away,
No death nor sorrow, crying and pain.
The former things are passed away,
I make all things new, says the LORD!

4. 'Tis done I'm Alpha 'nd Omega
Beginning and end of all things
I'll give to him that is athirst,
Life water's fountain free of charge.

5. He who overcomes inherits
All things and I will be his God.
He'll be my son and dwell with Me,
Forever in my sweet abode.

6. The fearful and unbelieving
Abominable murderers too.
The whoremongers and sorcerers,
In lake of fire shall have their part.

7. The lake of fire where liars go,
Idolaters who live for self.
The lake which burns with brimstone, fire,
Is also called the second death.

8. My Lord I come to You today,
To live for You and You alone.
To You I owe my life my love,
My all, my Lord to You I give.

Grace to Remain Inside Christ

My Destiny
(Ruth 1-4. tune “On Christ The Solid Rock”)

1. Elimelech of Ephratah
In Bethlehem, of Judea
A man of destiny in God
From famine fled, to foreign land

My destiny’s in Jesus Christ
I shall not flee to foreign land
My destiny’s in Je-sus Christ
I shall not flee to foreign land!

2. Naomi, Mahlon and Chillion
His family, with him did flee
Sons took to wife two foreign girls
The one Orpah the other Ruth

3. Elimelech died in Moab
His two sons too died in Moab
Distressed Naomi looked around
Arose in tears, Bethlehem bound

4. Orpah deserted but Ruth clave
To Naomi and to her God
God embraced Ruth and changed her fate
She found her destiny in God

5. Beloved be rooted in Christ
Be built up bearing fruit in Him
No glory in the outside world
“Without are dogs” our God has warned

Ruth 1:1-2

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem Judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

God’s Word against Moab - Deut. 23:3-6
What makes a man certain that he will enter into and fulfil his destiny? Only as he abide and remain inside Christ
What is the famine that seeks to separate you from the love of Christ? Romans 8:35

Prayer Points

  • Grant me daily, a heart revelation of “Whose I am and “Who I am in Christ.” Col. 2:3,9; Acts 17:28; 1 John 1
  • Lord, let this understanding secure my heart and deepen my roots inside Christ. Keep me standing with and for JESUS in the face of persecution and famine. Help my life so that I never exchange my destiny/inheritance/birth- right for food or the passing pleasures of sin. Heb. 11: 24-27
  • Help my heart keep knowing that it is only as I abide and remain in Christ that I am certain of a glorious destiny. Psl. 36:9
  • Deliver me from decisions that can potentially cost me and my loved ones our lives, or more importantly rob us of our inheritance/destiny in Christ.
  • Holy Spirit, show me areas of my life that are still sojourning and/or continuing in Moab (World or World System) and help me take practical and deliberate steps to return back to Judah (Christ).
  • John 1:1-2 Open the eyes of my heart so I can see Jesus, grant me ears that hear and can discern Your voice; may I touch and experience You in a definite way not fleeting shadows. May I manifest and bear witness of who You are.

Romans 8:35,37-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ruth found and secured her destiny in God. LORD, keep me on this journey of faith and on heavens highway!!!!

God’s Preparation – His Ways

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Wednesday 11.30am-1.30pm (UK time)

GIDEON – Judges 6 – 8
  • 6: 12 - 14He finds Gideon, even called him “a mighty man of valour”. And afterwards, asked Gideon to go in the strength that he has, since He (the Lord) was sending him.
  • 6:25 – 26 – God instructs Gideon to tear down the altar of Baal his father Joash had built and build a proper kind of altar for the Lord his God.
  • 7: 2-6 – God reduced the number of men with His own criteria. God’s ways are not our ways, the criteria of fear, unwillingness to go all out for Him was the first and more than half of the men left. Even with that great reduction, God further put the criteria of the style used by the men to drink water! Their drinking style demonstrated their level of preparation for use in this particular task. 1 Corinthians 6:12 (All things are lawful but not all are expedient, I will not be brought under the control of anything)
  • 7:8  – the men who failed to qualify (31,700)  were not only sent back, but the provisions and trumpets (ammunition for battle) were taken from them and given to the 300.

Obedience
6:27 - God’s instructions to Gideon were quick and Gideon obeyed immediately.
6:36 – 7:1 – After the fleece confirmation, Gideon the very next morning, camped with his men at the spring of Harod.
7:9 – after the Lord had whittled down the number of men to 300, that same night, God came with further instructions for Gideon - to go down against the camp of the Midianites. God asked him to go down to the camp and listen to what they were saying if he was afraid and he did immediately. After he confirmed what God had been saying to him, he worshipped and mobilised his people for battle!
7: 17-18 – Gideon now gave instructions to the 300 on what to do, they were to watch him and follow his lead to do exactly what he does.

Prayers
  • Thank God for the understanding He has granted us from His Word.
  • Lord, baptise us with the spirit of repentance – what separates us from God is sin, just like the Israelites in Judges 6:10b, they failed to take heed to God. He can’t behold iniquity.
  • Thank Him for the provision of the Cross that dealt decisively with the nature that is unable to obey Him. Thank Him for the Holy Spirit that He has sent, our Teacher and Helper, the Spirit of truth.
  • Lord, because of the help You have sent, the Holy Spirit, let our obedience to You be quick, not delayed, not sluggish, not lip service. Let our obedience to You be genuine!
  • Lord, no matter how few the labourers are, please find us included. May we not be disqualified because of lack of preparation, we submit to Your standards of preparation, no matter how odd or strange, it’s Your labour, have Your way! Matthew 7:13-15; Deuteronomy 30:18-20.
  • Lord, may we remain in awe of who You are, remove every familiarity. Judges 7:15, after God proved what He had told Gideon and he was convinced, he worshipped God and his attitude changed. There is no more mention of fleece after this revelation. Lord, help us to know, settle in our hearts that You can be trusted.
  • Our obedience isn’t just for us, but for the lives tied to ours – the 300 were properly instructed because Gideon had listened and obeyed the Lord’s instructions to him. Lord, help us!
  • The battle belongs to God, therefore, victory is assured. When this happens, humble us, may we not become proud and conceited. Judges 8:1-3, 22-23. Gideon gave a wise answer to the people of Ephraim and also to the Israelites request that he rule over them.
  • Father, help us to take heed; the enemy is out to steal and destroy from us. Judges 8:24-27, 29-35. Gideon built a gold ephod that eventually became a snare as the people later started prostituting by worshipping it. He also married many wives, had a concubine which had its consequences. Lord, let the victory of the Cross of Calvary over sin and death, over the powers of satan, let it ever be before us!
  • Because of Gideon’s obedience, in his lifetime, Israel had peace for 40 years, the Midian did not raise its head again in that time -Judges 8:28. Lord, may our own generation not be left out in your records of victory.
