1. The mystery of the Gospel's great,
Jesus came in the flesh,
To save and show the only life,
Acceptable to God.
2. The mystery of the Gospel's great,
Jesus died on the cross,
To do away with the race accursed,
He was the last Adam.
3. The mystery of the Gospel's great,
Jesus was buried to,
Put out of sight th'Adamic race,
Our sin was buried too.
4. The mystery of the Gospel's great,
Jesus rose from the dead,
To birth on earth a brand new race,
Race peculiar divine.
5. The mystery of the Gospel's great
Jesus was seen of some,
The specimens of this new race,
His body called the Church.
6. The mystery of the Gospel's great,
Jesus ascended up,
In heav'n prepare for us a place,
The mansion made of gold.
7. The mystery of the Gospel's great
Jesus sent th'Holy Ghost
To seal all those of this new race,
Glorify Christ in us.
8. The mystery of the Gospel's great
Jesus gave us the means
Discipleship to grow and mould
And set apart His own.
9. The mystery of the Gospel's great
Jesus is coming back,
With trumpet sound, the victory shout,
We shall be changed and gone
10. The mystery of the Gospel's great
Jesus will come to reign
With thousands of His saints with Him
Restore all things to God.
